Newspapers
1) Do you often read newspapers?
Yes, I do. I work as a teaching assistant in my teacher’s office, where I can read a large amount of newspapers of home and abroad every day, during which I can know more about the international politics. I am totally attracted by it.
Honestly, I seldom read newspapers because I will have to pay a certain amount of subscription fee and spend much time in waiting for them to be mailed to my house every day if I want to read them. This is indeed very inconvenient today when I can just get to know what’s going on for the world through the Internet.
2) Which do you prefer reading, magazines or newspapers?
Compared with newspapers, magazines are better for me: usually, they are richer in content and have beautifully-arranged columns with nice photos from all over the world, which all make magazines excellent choices for leisure moments.
3) What kinds of (types of) newspapers (or magazines) do you usually read?
Travel magazines appeal to me most because I crave for photos and articles with first-hand experience of exotic lands. As I am burdened with heavy school work like writing papers and other stuffs, it seems that reading travel magazines is the best way for me to satisfy such crave.
4) How old were you when you first started to read newspapers?
It was probably six or seven when I first read newspapers. As a result, I started early yet I didn’t read much newspapers.
5) Do you think it’s important to read newspapers? (Why?/Why not?)

Actually, it is safe to say that I can’t live and breath without news, for I major in translation and my academic study demands that I keep touch with the updates update of the world and respond to it timely when it comes to translation.Owing to that, my phone is loaded with news apps and they always keep me informed.

Definitely, as I have mentioned above, the news has played a very significant role in my daily life of work and study for such a long time.
10) What kinds of news do Chinese people read in newspapers?
Well, I guess financial news attract the largest crowd of readers for the reason that it is the economy that constitutes the building blocks of our society. Yet I would say that different people might find dissimilar types of newspapers handy or interesting according to their social background and habitual preference.
11) Do you prefer to read about domestic (or local) news or international news? (Why?)
International news is more attract for me that those of domestic.. As a student who has never stepped outside China, international news always supplies me with exotic culture and updates of what’s going on in those faraway lands. I would say that they help me understand and appreciate foreign nations without the necessity of going to these places.
I think I prefer to read domestic news. According to my perspective, the domestic news is directly related to our life, so I will not feel the distance between the news and me. As for the international news, it takes place thousands miles away from me, I always feel unrealistic about it.
