In some countries, some criminal trials are shown on television and the general public can watch them.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
看到这周的雅思写作大作文话题，我立刻就想到了几个月前新出的美剧《美国犯罪故事》。这部新剧的第一季讲的就是前美国橄榄球明星O·J·辛普森涉嫌杀妻的故事。这是一部根据真人真事改编的剧集，而在当时(1994年)整个的审讯过程也通过电视直播给美国市民，并引起了不小的轰动。
百度百科对此事是这样说的：
“通过电视转播而家喻户晓，人们对司法程序和法治的具体制度也有了直观的了解，成了一种普及法律知识的最大课堂。电视台是依靠收视率而生存的。报道的东西越有刺激性和争议性，收视率便越高。名人涉嫌杀妻，电视台大肆宣扬，唯恐有人不知。各大电视网均不遗余力地派出最强的记者现场采访，而各种肥皂剧、喜剧和脱口秀也以法官、被告、控方、证人中的一些著名角色为题材大加发挥，热闹非凡，竭尽推波助澜之能事。”
