There are tens of thousands of museums all over the world. The museums are -.' keeping, preserving and exhibiting historical, scientific or artistic objects. Regarding to the purposes of museums, some people think museums should be enjoyable places to entertain - . young people ,while others believe that museums should play a role of educating people.
Some people reckon that museums should be enjoyable places out of the demands of visitors and themselves. On one hand, visitors hope the museums become enjoyable ace's where they can appreciate a collection and relax themselves. At the same time , they can appreciate many historical cultures and have a special experience in museum. On the her hand, for the museums, in order to attract people to see the objects, they should make those exhibits interesting and offer some programs for the public such as films, musical or dance performances, and technology demonstrations, which make visitors feel interested and delighted
But for some people, they think the main purpose of the museums is educative. To start with, museums offer all kinds of collection and show them such as treasury, storehouse, laboratory and school, so they inevitably bear the responsibility of disseminating human knowledge and culture and have strong didactic purpose. Then museums display evidential historical and present datas about how things have emerged, developed, evolved and declined, and about how human being have developed, so cultivating visitors' patriotism and their sense of belonging is also an important role of museums.
For my own part, I think the museums need to fulfill their essential role as an educational resource. Even though some people go there for fun; they're educated at the same time. As a great source of information about cultures and history, the main responsibility of museums should educate and inspire people from generation to generation.
