Describe a leader (in sports, business or politics) that you admire.
Today I am going to talk about a great leader in sports--Michael Jordan. He is so famous that he is almost known by every person in China. I first heard this name when I was in high school. I admire him not only because he is great, but also because I’ve learned a lot from him.
First, he is a great team leader, team player. I’ve learned from him that to be truly successful in my life, I need to build a strong team, draw on its strength, and lead the whole group to great things. Second, Jordan has shown great charisma as a leader. People, even his opponents, respect him, admire him. That teaches me that I must become a person where people follow me not because of what I do or have done, but because of who I am.
Describe a childhood story of fairy tale character.
I’ve read may stories and there is seldom any one like Snow White who left such a lasting impression throughout my childhood years.
Snow White, was born in a royal family but was envied and mistreated by her evil stepmother, though she never bore and hatred against anyone. Her purity and clean conscience were like a precious jewel cherished in my heart. I also learned from the story that one needs an innocent heart and then God will show his favor upon you, and evil shall never prevail. Nevertheless, Snow White is never just a story figure, she is also sort of a role model that has influenced me so much that I can face the fallen world today with a clear, pure and innocent heart.
Describe a building at your school or college.
There is a fabulous laboratory building on my high school campus. Located behind the main teaching building and surrounded by a few other buildings, it dwarfs all of them. It has eight floors and a built-in elevator, but, of course, students are normally not allowed to use the elevator, Besides that, the laboratory building is also well-known for its fancy looks on the outside and the variety of facilities and apparatus it is equipped with on the inside. I like the laboratory building not only because it is something that I can brag about my school, but also because it is very useful and helpful. I have many of my science classes there: physics, chemistry and biology, and I’ve learned many things from these courses and begun to love science.
Describe a foreign country that you haven’t been to, but want to go.
I have always wanted to go to Korea, a neighboring country to the east of China. I want to go to Korea because, along with Korean TV shows, Korean fashion, and Korean pop culture are the buzz words among most of the young people today. Even sometimes when people use the word “Korean”, they mean “modern”. On the other hand, Korean people like China, too. In Korea, there are more than 200 academic institutes that teach Chinese language and culture as a major, and more than 130,000 secondary school students study Chinese as their second language. In addition, Korea’s natural beauty is also very attractive to me. Right now, I am planning my first visit to Seoul, I believe this is going to be one of the most memorable vacations ever.
Describe an advertisement.
Coca-cola always impresses me with its imaginative advertising. There is one in particular that is a masterpiece. In it is a small boy who comes to a vending machine where he wants to but a cold drink. First, he puts a few coins into the slot and presses the button. The machine spits out a Pepsi. However, he doesn’t take the drink and walk away. But instead, he puts the Pepsi on the ground, stands on it and reaches out his chubby hand for another button. It is then when the audiences realize that the boy is actually trying to buy Coca-cola.
This ad is so memorable to me because it not only ridicules its rival but also takes its audience totally different way---no fancy visual effects, big celebrities, or anything of the like, but just plain creative imagination. In terms of its effectiveness, I can’t say much about general audiences. But it was quite effective for must of my friends and, of course, myself. Nor only so, but also it is a work of art.
